Beginning Students- Start With an Optimal Teacher

Why do I need a doctoral-prepared piano teacher, especially for a beginning student?
- Music study may be the best tool for brain development. Research shows that a high-quality music education leads to greater neural development and academic success in children, but that the quality of the instructor is a key factor. A great teacher from the first lesson can help a student achieve early success, which will encourage further study and appreciation of music. Musical success is associated with academic success. - Our students love piano and continue playing for life. Did you know over 90% of piano students drop out of lessons in the pre-teen years, almost all of them not having achieved even moderate musical proficiency? We have the education and expertise to help your student achieve early musical proficiency in a positive environment. Please click here for an academic study on reducing musical drop-out.
- Comprehensive education: Music education at DuPage Musical Arts Academy includes repertoire, ear-training, theory, technique, and music history to enhance musical knowledge and build a firm foundation for future success. Please click on the “contact us” page to inquire about taking lessons.
When beginning piano lessons, it is critical to start with a teacher who has the education and experience to motivate, educate, and inspire. Our teachers love teaching beginners because the first lessons are the most critical and so much fun! Early successes lead to motivation and love of the instrument. Our teachers’ performance background (Doctor of Musical Arts) and educational background in piano pedagogy (teaching piano) provide the optimal combination. Their enthusiasm and experience with beginners, both children and adults, will help you or your child love piano lessons and create a lifelong relationship with music.

Method choice: For beginning students at DuPage Musical Arts Academy, our teachers will guide the student and parents in the choice of piano methods. While students are encouraged to consider studying piano using the ear-training first (Suzuki) method because its natural approach leads to positive experiences and quick growth, lessons using other traditional methods (music-reading first) are available and work very well for many students.
