For advanced or competitive students, Dr. Kuhny has the education, experience, and ability to assist in further talent development. “Your goal is my goal” is a frequently-heard saying in Dr. Kuhny’s studio, as she is thrilled to help students in their musical endeavors at the highest level. She firmly believes that each student has the need to become what he or she has the ability to become.
It is important to study with a teacher who can play all of the pieces that you want to study, and Dr. Kuhny can play anything, even the most difficult pieces! She holds a Doctorate in Piano Performance with Dr. Ian Hobson at the University of Illinois. Dr. Hobson’s studio is one of the most competitive in the world, with most students coming from overseas. Dr. Kuhny has competed at the highest levels, and is happy to help you in your endeavors should you choose to enter competitions.
Are you preparing for university or conservatory admission? It is imperative that you optimize your repertoire selection and performance, and Dr. Kuhny is experienced at helping pianists do so. Also, studying with a professor before college will help you with the demands of a university or conservatory professor.
Dr. Kuhny’s studio has two Steinway grand pianos. For advanced and competitive students, this is important because you will be practicing and rehearsing on the same piano on which you will be performing or competing. Also, concerto (piano and orchestra) and duo piano practice require two pianos.
